Tattoo removal in Spain: Growth and demand

In recent years, the tattoo industry has experienced notable growth, consolidating itself as an expanding industry.

In Spain, there are more than 3,000 tattoo studios, generating revenue exceeding 180 million euros annually.

Spain in the global panorama

Spain ranks sixth globally in terms of tattoo practice. According to a statement by the company Lutronic, the average age of individuals getting tattooed for the first time ranges between 21 and 28 years old. This growth is due to greater social acceptance, increasing demand, and technological advances that have led tattoos to unprecedented levels of popularity and global recognition.

Regret and tattoo removal

Despite initial enthusiasm, tattoos are not always permanent in the minds of those who bear them. A study by Lutronic PBS reveals that 60% of people regret getting tattooed and wish to remove their tattoos in less than five years. Fortunately for this 60%, nowadays we have very advanced technologies to erase tattoos.

“In recent years, the number of people coming to us to remove their tattoos has grown by 30%. It is particularly common among women aged 35 to 50 who are looking to remove tattoos that no longer represent them”.

At Miki Tattoo Killer, we confirm this trend.

The reasons range from evolving tastes and dissatisfaction with the results to unfortunate reminders of past relationships or traumatic events. The decision to remove a tattoo with laser is as diverse as the reasons for getting tattooed in the first place.

We invite you to read some interviews conducted with our patients where they share their reasons.

LaserLight Technology: The removal process

At Miki Tattoo Killer, we use LáserLight technology, Ink Hunt Master, and Ink Hunt Master Pro, which utilize ultra-short pulses to break down the ink, allowing the body’s cells to naturally reabsorb and eliminate it. Currently, it’s considered the top equipment and has the highest recognition in tattoo removal, microblading removal, and stain removal.

Key factors in tattoo removal

Several factors can influence the ease and effectiveness of tattoo removal:

  1. Color and pigments: Dark pigments like black and blue are easier to remove, while lighter colors like yellow and green pose more challenges.
  2. Depth and quality of the tattoo: Professionally done tattoos, with proper technique and uniform ink penetration, are generally easier to remove than those done amateurishly.
  3. Location of the tattoo: Tattoos in areas with better blood circulation, such as arms and legs, respond better to laser treatment.
  4. Patient habits: Smoking can prolong healing time due to toxins like nicotine and carbon monoxide, which may require more sessions for complete tattoo removal.

More and more people are regretting getting tattoos, increasing the demand for advanced laser removal technologies.

This shift in consumer behavior has a ripple effect on the tattoo industry as a whole. Potential tattoo enthusiasts may now carefully consider the permanence of their decisions before getting inked.
